China's double solar power capacity goal

China, the world's largest solar panel exporter, is likely to boast 10 gigawatts (gW) of solar power capacity by 2015 from the current 1 gW, doubling its existing target amid rising doubts about the safety of nuclear power.

The country may double its target for solar power 510 Battery hp nc6400 battery capacity to 10 gW in 2015 from the 5 gW originally planned the China Securities Journal reported on Wednesday, citing unnamed sources.

China is expected to announce a new five-year target for the solar industry soon. The government stalled new approvals for nuclear power projects on March 16 in the wake of Japan's nuclear crisis.

Meanwhile, China consolidated its position as the No 1 country in clean-energy investment in 2010, with $54.4 billion flowing into the sector, up 39 percent from the 2009 level, Acer as07b41 battery according to a report by the US-based Pew Charitable Trusts, an independent, non-profit organization. In 2009, China overtook the United States as the No 1 nation for installed clean-energy capacity.

According to the latest report, Who's Winning the Clean Energy Race, China led the world in asset financing, with $47.3 billion in private investments directed toward installation of clean-energy generation capacity. The solar power sector attracted 6.3 percent of the total investment in clean energy last year.

China's installation of less than 1 gW of solar energy capacity demonstrates that most of its production is for the export market. In contrast, 17 gW of wind energy was installed in China in 2010, helping the nation move quickly toward its 2020 target for installing 150 gW of wind energy, the report said.

Renewable-energy capacity reached 103 gW in China last year, according to the report.

"The new target could be a relief for China's overcapacity photovoltaic (PV) industry," said Li Shengman, an industry analyst at China Investment Consulting.

The export-dependant industry will see the domestic market expanding, Li said.

PV makers will experience a challenging year in 2011. Europe will not be the growth engine Hp pavilion dv6700 battery Dell latitude d820 battery it has been in recent years as governments there are cutting back on incentives.

Germany's first quarter 2011 end-market demand for solar PV has been performing at less than 50 percent of what it was in the first quarter of 2010, according to a report in Solarbuzz.

Meanwhile, the policy could push up the price of polysilicon, a raw material for making solar panels, passing on more pressure to the down-stream manufacturers, he noted.

China is home to the world's top solar makers, including Suntech Power Holdings Ltd and Trina Solar Ltd all of whom have focused on the overseas markets while expecting a domestic market take-off.

"There was been a theory that China was rising so fast in clean energy because of its low labor costs," Jennifer Granholm, an adviser to Pew, said. "This is not about labor costs. This is about policy."

Do you have a new iPod? Top tips to Add Songs to You iPod !

battery care tips post by goodlaptopbattery.co.uk

Released by Apple in October of 2001, the iPod is a personal portable media player that is primarily used for listening to music. Since its release, it has undergone several transformations and updates. One of the primary selling points of the iPod is its user-friendly interface. Both the device itself and the software that accompanies it were specifically designed to be straightforward, even for the less than technically savvy. Adding music to your iPod is as simple as adding music to your iTunes library and plugging in your device.

1.Open iTunes and click "iTunes Store" on the left-hand column of the browser. Search by genre, artist or popularity to find music to add to your library. When you find a song you want, click on it and confirm your purchase. You must have an iTunes account with a valid credit card. If you don't have one yet, click on a song and click "Create Account." Fill out the appropriate information.

2.Insert a CD into your computer's CD Dell inspiron b120 battery dell latitude d620 battery or DVD drive and click "OK" when the dialog box appears asking if you want to import the CD. If you want to import only a few songs, click "Cancel" and deselect the checked boxes next to the tracks you don't want; then click "Import CD."

3.Browse your "Music" folder on your hard drive to find any music you uploaded to your computer before you downloaded iTunes. Double-click the icon to open the song in iTunes and add it to your library.

Sync iPod

1.Plug your iPod into your computer with the iPod docking USB cable. If your iTunes is set to automatically sync, it will upload your new music to your iPod automatically. You can check this by clicking on the name of your iPod in the left-hand column of the browser under "Devices," then clicking "Music" in the main browser window (between "Summary" and "Movies"). The box next to "Sync Music" should be checked, and the option "Sync entire library" should be marked.

2. If you can't fit your entire music library on your iPod but want to add songs, create a playlist of all the songs you want to put on your iPod by clicking the plus sign in the bottom left corner of the iTunes browser. Type in a name for the playlist; then drag the songs from "Music" to your playlist. When you are ready to sync, plug in your iPod dell latitude d830 battery dell inspiron 5100 battery , and then click "Music." Check the box next to "Sync Music," but choose to sync only selected playlists, artists, albums and genres. Check the box next to the playlist you created in the "Playlist" window that appears. Click "Apply."

3.To manually add songs, plug in your iPod and click "Summary" in the main window. Select "Manually manage music" under "Options." Click "Music" on the left-hand column to open your music library. Click and drag the songs you want to add to your iPod from your library to the name of your iPod in the left-hand column under "Devices." Press control to highlight and drag more than one song at a time.

Remove songs from your iPod
Apple's iTunes makes it easy to add or remove songs from your iPod. This is achieved through automatic syncing. When you connect your iPod to your computer, your iPod music library is automatically synchronized with your iTunes' library. However, this can pose a problem if a song on your iPod is no longer in your iTunes' dell latitude d820 battery dell inspiron 6400 battery  library. If this is the case, the song will be deleted from your iPod. By overriding the iTunes automatic sync feature, you can manually add songs to your iPod without losing the ones you have.

1.Connect your iPod to your computer, using the USB cable. Start the iTunes program.

2.Click on "iPod" underneath the "Devices" tab on the left sidebar.

3.Click the tab labeled "Summary," and then check the box next to "Manually manage music and videos." Click "Apply" to save the change.

4.Select "Music" from the "Library" tab on the left sidebar. Browse through your music library.

5.Click on a song to select it. To select multiple songs, hold down the "Ctrl" button. Drag your selection(s) to "iPod" underneath "Devices." The songs will be added to your iPod.

Cell Phones reviews - Top 10 Best Upcoming Cell Phones 2011

Sure, you want a new phone right now, but carriers and manufacturers have promised some truly spectacular, knock-your-socks-off phones coming to U.S. shelves between now and June. With 4G right around the corner and mobile hardware and software getting better and better, you should take a look at what’s coming down the pike in the next couple of months before you buy.
The first three weeks of the year have seen more than a dozen announcements from top U.S. carriers, and we’re sure to see more at the Mobile World Congress trade show in mid-February. Whether you’re with AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, or Verizon Wireless, there’s something exciting on the horizon.
It wasn’t easy keeping it to just 10, but we’ve come up with this list of the most exciting phones that you’ll be able to buy in the coming months. To check out pictures of these handsets,

  10. Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc (AT&T?)
Sony Ericsson’s big comeback could come from this Android 2.3 "Gingerbread" phone with a razor-sharp screen, spectacular camera, and the ability to be manipulated by your TV’s remote control. While the company told us it wants to sell this phone here in the U.S, we’ve put it in last place on this list because Sony Ericsson has a lousy track record of getting its phones picked up by U.S. carriers. If it does appear, the Xperia Arc will most likely show up on AT&T.

Also notable: Sony Ericsson is expected to debut a "PlayStation phone" next month, though we don’t know whether that’s ever coming to the U.S. We should know more when MWC commences on Feb. 13.

  9. HTC 7 Pro (Sprint)
htc thumb Top 10 Best Upcoming Cell Phones 2011
Windows Phone 7 will debut on Sprint very, very soon with this big, sliding-QWERTY-keyboard model. Like many other Windows Phone 7 devices, the 7 Pro has a 1GHz processor and a 5-megapixel camera. The form factor is the selling point here, with a tilting screen that makes it look like a little laptop.

8. LG Revolution (Verizon Wireless) wireless thumb Top 10 Best Upcoming Cell Phones 2011
Verizon debuted four new LTE, Android-based phones at CES this year. The LG Revolution’s key features include 1080p HD video capture and the ability to organize your Android apps into folders, preventing your app tray from getting much too long.

7. Samsung Galaxy S 4G (T-Mobile)

T-Mobile’s Editors’ Choice-winning Samsung Vibrant is getting a faster cousin on February 13 with the introduction of the Galaxy S 4G, which T-Mobile pre-announced on January 20. We don’t know much about the new generation Galaxy S, although we’re hoping T-Mobile’s phone is the same as the dual-core Galaxy S lineup that Samsung is promising.

6. Samsung Infuse 4G (AT&T)
att thumb Top 10 Best Upcoming Cell Phones 2011
Super-thin, with a super-huge, Super AMOLED Plus screen, the Samsung Infuse will give you a truly cinematic Android experience. The 4.5-inch display carries the same 800-by-480 resolution as most other smart phones, but Samsung says Super AMOLED Plus will improve its colors. The Infuse will be one of the first phones to run on AT&T’s fast HSPA+ network.

5. HTC Thunderbolt (Verizon Wireless)
htc3 thumb Top 10 Best Upcoming Cell Phones 2011
HTC is beloved for giving a bit more style and finish to its Android phones than some other manufacturers, and the 4G HTC Thunderbolt comes with the company’s award-winning Sense UI overlay. It also has an 8-megapixel camera and an HD video recorder, which may make this an excellent 4G phone for YouTube devotees.

4. T-Mobile Sidekick 4Gt mobile sidekick lx qwerty phone Top 10 Best Upcoming Cell Phones 2011
The T-Mobile Sidekick is a cult device with an intensely faithful following. After Sidekick-maker Danger was bought by Microsoft, fans thought they’d never see a new model. T-Mobile recently said the Sidekick is coming back as a 4G HSPA+ Android phone, but didn’t give many details. This image seems to hint that it will eschew a swiveling screen for a slider design.

3. Motorola Droid Bionic (Verizon Wireless)
motorola thumb Top 10 Best Upcoming Cell Phones 2011The dual-core, NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor in the Motorola Droid Bionic means this 4G LTE phone will be up to twice as fast as other top smartphones. I’ve seen the Tegra difference when playing games, and it means sharper backgrounds, better shadows, and more enemies to fight. The Droid Bionic may very well be Verizon’s power leader when it launches.

2. Motorola Atrix (AT&T)
atrix thumb Top 10 Best Upcoming Cell Phones 2011The most interesting phone I saw at CES and the one I’m personally waiting most anxiously for, the Motorola Atrix is an Android phone that turns into a Linux-powered, desktop or laptop PC when it’s popped into the appropriate dock. Could this replace a tablet, a netbook, or a home media center? I really want to find out.

 1. Apple iPhone 5
apple thumb Top 10 Best Upcoming Cell Phones 2011 Sorry folks, we couldn’t ignore the next-gen Jesus phone. Nobody knows anything reliable about the upcoming iPhone, although noisy blog speculation is already in full force. We don’t know if it will be called iPhone 5, iPhone 4G, or something else. But we’re pretty sure it’s coming in June or July—iPhones always do. Surely Apple will have plenty of surprises for us, and it’s likely that a new iPhone will come with industry-leading features. The real question is, with a Verizon iPhone 4 coming in early February—can you wait that long?

    Firefox 4 reviews : 5 Must Have Exclusive Add-ons for Firefox 4

With the full release of Mozilla Firefox 4 just around the corner, and Firefox 4 RC 2 already available to the public, there are many new add-ons that play around with the new framework that Mozilla is introducing. Many other extensions and themes are being ported over from older versions of the open source web browser, but here we will just be focusing on the add-ons only available for Firefox 4.

    Moveable Firefox Button
First up is one called Moveable Firefox Button. As you may have noticed, Firefox 4 has gone the way of Opera in having a menu bar all contained under one button, the “Firefox Button”. This add-on simply allows you to place it wherever you want, and even make it available while in full screen mode, or still to have it even when you choose to show the menu bar.

    FabTabs
FabTabs is the next add-on that you should get for Firefox 4. It makes handling multiple open tabs much easier by calculating the most used color on a website, and coloring the tab and the browser bar when that tab is open accordingly. The tabs not being viewed are also noticeably fainter, so you can still tell which tab is open. You may not think you need something like this, but once you actually try it out, you’ll notice that you can find the tab you are looking for much faster than you did before.

    RSS Icon In Awesombar
The removal of the RSS Icon in the browser bar when a page had available feeds was a huge bummer for me when I first loaded up Firefox 4, but RSS Icon In Awesombar replaces that exact functionality. It really did not make sense for Mozilla to remove it in the first place, but this is the reason that open source and add-ons are so great.

    Barlesque
Barlesque is another add-on that modifies a questionable design decision by Mozilla. The add-on bar that resides in the bottom is a pain to use. Sometimes you want to be able to use something like ColorZilla to see the exact color scheme of a website, but you definitely do not want a whole bar taking up precious screen real estate. You can close the bar by default, but have to go back into a menu to open it up. With this add-on, the buttons for the add-ons that reside in the bar will only be displayed as buttons, no bar, and they can easily be hidden and redisplayed thanks to an arrow. In my opinion, this is how the browser should have been set up from the start, and is another great example of why add-ons are great.

    Vertical Toolbar
The last add-on that you should install when you first download the Firefox 4 RC is Vertical Toolbar. It can be set up on either the left or right side and functions as any other toolbar in Firefox does. Almost any functionality can be moved there, and it can be set to automatically hide, and then reappear upon mouseover of the area. This is a great way to save your browsing space, yet keep advanced functionality in an easy to access space.

Since Firefox 4 is not released yet, there are sure to be more killer add-ons to come, but for now, these are definitely the top five that are exclusive to this latest iteration of the open source browsing giant. While Mozilla is changing up their browser a great deal, these add-ons allow for a great deal of customization right away, and can help you transition into this new browsing experience more smoothly.

Lenovo New Technology – Lenovo boosts battery in convertible tablet/laptop

Lenovo’s new X220 convertible tablet/notebook www.batterylaptoppower.com – Wholesaler & distributor of laptop batteries replacement for Compaq & HP laptop battery, Dell laptop battery, Acer laptop battery, Sony, IBM, Toshiba laptop battery. Our notebook batteries are made from high quality battery cells, which offer the quality and capacity as their (Original Equipment Manufacturer) counterparts. We guarantee our laptop batteries for full 1 year warranty and 30-day money back on every laptop battery.
Lenovo’s newest tablet/notebook features Intel’s Sandy Bridge architecture and longer battery life.
Announced today, the Thinkpad X220 convertible tablet/notebook will join Lenovo’s upcoming X220 notebook. Both products are the latest additions to the company’s X series of ultraportable notebooks and tablet/notebooks with 12.5-inch screens, and both are slated to reach store shelves next month.
The X220 convertible starts at $1,199, while the notebook’s starting price is $899. Though Lenovo is targeting both computers to individuals as well as companies, they are designed primarily for business users.
Outfitted with Sandy Bridge, the X220 convertible offers a choice of an i3, i5, or i7 processor. Buyers can opt for either a solid state drive with up to 160GB of storage or a conventional hard drive with up to 320GB. Memory can go as high as 8GB. It weighs in at 3.88 pounds.
Like the notebook Compaq pavilion dv6000 battery Compaq nc4200 battery , the X220 convertible includes three USB ports, with one designed as an always-on port so people can charge a phone or other device without powering up the computer. A 720p HD Webcam, digital microphone, and an Intel Wi-Fi/WiMax adapter are included as well.
Notable to both the convertible and the notebook are sharp boosts in battery life. The X220 notebook offers 15 hours of battery life with a 9-cell battery–and up to 23 hours when a 6-cell external battery pack is added. The battery life on the convertible is lower, but it still offers 9 hours of life with a 6-cell battery–and 16 hours by adding on the 6-cell external pack.
The convertible’s predecessor, the X201, offers 3.5 hours of battery life with a four-cell battery and 7.9 hours with an eight-cell battery.
Preston Taylor, worldwide product marketing manager for Lenovo’s ThinkPad brand, said in an interview that Lenovo relied on both Intel and its own team to coax the boost in battery life over previous models. The enhanced Gateway btp-68b3 battery dell d630 battery power management found in Intel’s Sandy Bridge architecture accounted for about 50 percent of the increase in battery life. But the other 50 percent came directly from Lenovo.
Lenovo designed both the convertible and the notebook to dial down or completely turn off unused components to focus on the energy required by the components in use. One example cited by Taylor: if people are streaming videos or music over the Web, they’re not using the computer for much else, so there’s no need for the hard drive to keep spinning or for some of the ports to keep drawing juice.
Lenovo also outfitted both machines with certain power management features that can extend the life of the battery when it’s left with around 90 minutes of power. Even further, people shouldn’t see any significant difference in battery usage among the three core processors–the i3, i5, and i7. The battery life itself was tested using the MobileMark 2007 benchmark, according to Taylor, and was done on units with solid state drives and with the power management features turned on.
Consumers eyeing the convertible have a choice of two types of displays. A multitouch screen allows input through both fingers and digital pen, while a special outdoor panel is designed for mobile workers who need to use the tablet outside. The outdoor panel doesn’t offer the finger touch option but instead is optimized to reflect light so the screen is visible even in bright sunlight. It also uses Corning’s Gorilla glass, which is more durable and scratch-resistant than other types of glass panels. Both panels also offer in-plane switching, which provides a better view of the screen from wider angles.
Like other convertibles, the X220 transforms from a notebook into a tablet by rotating the display and pushing it onto the keyboard. Lenovo Lenovo 3000 v100 battery Lenovo 3000 v200 battery wanted to give both the tablet and the notebook a cleaner look and feel, Taylor said. So the old-style latches that lock the lid onto the base have been jettisoned in favor of a latchless design. Using a new pinching mechanism, the lid automatically closes shut when it comes close to the keyboard. This new design also helped Lenovo bump up the size of the touch pad by 45 percent.
The touch pad itself now offers a buttonless design. Instead of clicking on the older-style bottom buttons, users can tap on the touch pad to trigger the left and right button actions. And using a multitouch design, the touch pad accepts various gestures, such as two-finger swipes to scroll up and down the screen.
Surprisingly, though, the tablet and the notebook offer VGA and DisplayPort ports, but no DVI or HDMI connections

The Martinettis Buy a Computer - Apple's Worst Commercial

If anything can match the sexiness of Apple (AAPL) products, its the über cool marketing campaigns that sell them. Created by New York/Los Angeles hipster ad agency TBWAChiatDay, the beautifully-shot commercials, scored by underground indie rock (consequently launching the careers of bands like Jet and Feist), mirror the cutting edge design we’ve come to expect with Apple gadgetry.

But betwixt that groundbreaking Ridley Scott-directed “1984” commercial and today’s finger-on-the-pulse status quo, there was a dark period in Apple sony vgp-bps2b battery advertising. It was in 1995, specifically, that Hawthorne Communications, from advertising hotbed Fairfield, IA, unleashed upon the world another dystopia, far more foreboding than any Orwellian existence. This time, the face on the big screen spouting its ideological rhetoric didn’t belong to Big Brother; it belonged to a suburban family of superdorks at the heart of Apple’s disaster ad: “The Martinettis Bring Home A Computer.”

www.goodlaptopbattery.co.uk -  is a place to find the best rechargeable lithium ion laptop batteries, replacement laptop ac adapters and high quality chargers.

Wholesaler and Distributor of notebook computer batteries, laptop batteries, Dell laptop battery, Toshiba laptop battery, HP laptop batteries, Acer laptop battery, Sony laptop battery, laptop battery replacement, laptop power adapters. Buy now up to 35% discount!

This three-act storymercial that heralded the introduction of the Macintosh Performa spoon-fed its audience the wonders of personal computing with an extra helping of Velveeta. Part of the cringe factor is simply a result of the characters’ navieté about this computer “with the future built right in” that, by today’s standards, is laughably prehistoric.

But the infomercial obviously can’t be blamed for lauding a disk drive, CD-ROM drive or modem as cutting edge. Trotting out Claris Works as innovative word processing software, introducing Apple’s online service, eWorld (enabling you to “make friends all over cyberspace”), boasting a CRT monitor with “TV quality” images and literally referring to “multimedia” as “exciting technologies” -- all of those things, while smacking of the “what life was like before television” grandparent effect, are not the ad’s fault.

No, the real eyeball stabbing element about the commercial is that it’s couched in a sitcom format with a wannabe Wonder Years sentimentality and grating, stereotyped characters. The “wild story,” narrated by middle child TJ, the next generation Encyclopedia Britannica kid, follows the Martinetti family as they buy their first home computer hp pavilion dv6 battery , Hp pavilion dv8000 battery .

The only family member reticent about the Performa purchase is “Pop,” the Martinetti’s stick-in-the-mud patriarch. His argument that “the world got along fine for thousands of years without computers” leaves the rest of the clan lovingly shaking their heads under the score of a muted trombone. Even Schubert, the golden retriever, rolls over in chagrin. TJ remarks about his stubborn dad, “If you told him the computer could take you to the moon, he’d want to go three times to make sure.”

It’s only when live-in Grandpa Carmine (whose onscreen entrance you expect to be followed by a toilet flush sound effect) offers to pay for the Performa that Pop agrees to bring it home. But there’s a catch! If after one month, the family could prove the computer’s value to Pop, he’d have to reimburse Gramps and the computer wouldn’t be returned (back in the day when Macs came with a 30-day money-back guarantee?).
And so the trial of the Martinettis’ Macintosh Performa began.

Math-challenged TJ practiced drills on CD-ROM games. Gramps, a classical music lover, joined an online opera lovers forum and recorded little sister Zoe playing her clarinet while she “put pictures and words together!” from a trip to the zoo. And what now feels like a nod to Performa’s Jurrasicness, Mom utilized the design software Hp pavilion dv5 battery , Dell vostro 1000 battery to create a greeting card of a dinosaur in a party hat saying “Have a Groovin B’Day!!!” and faxed a draft to her publisher. She also produced the first-ever Martinetti newsletter.

But it was Pop himself who, despite himself, loosened his vice grip on monotony and, after everyone was asleep, took the Performa for a spin. To his surprise, the computer wasn’t just about writing book reports, playing games, “e-mailing” or looking at pictures on the Internet. It actually served the practical needs of adult men. He got stock quotes on eWorld, balanced the family budget and even used dos files from the office.
Spoiler alert: The Martinettis did get to keep the Peforma. TJ’s math grades improved, Gramps made a love connection with a fellow opera forum member... and even Schubert got his paws on it. But as TJ put it, “We didn’t only get a computer. It got us.”

Apple provided with an AT&T iPad 2 for review.

When Apple unveiled the iPad back in January of 2010, the company's competitors rightly saw a huge opportunity. Now that Steve Jobs & Co. had created the first modern tablet computer, other manufacturers could build on the ideas it originated. They could offer features that it didn't. They could deliver more bang for the buck.

Almost fourteen months later, the promise of a tablet market is still mostly just that: promise. RIM, for instance, announced its intriguing BlackBerry PlayBook last September but still hasn't revealed a ship date. HP says only that it hopes to have its TouchPad out by summer. Motorola's Xoom, meanwhile, hit stores in February with so many of its theoretically iPad-crushing features yet to be implemented—4G wireless, Adobe's Flash Player software, the memory-card slot—that it should have come with a wad of IOUs in the box. (Adobe says that Flash will be ready on March 18th.)

Clearly, this tablet stuff is tricky. There is, however, one company that's managed to ship a model that's unquestionably superior to the iPad. That company would be Apple--and the tablet is the iPad 2 Compaq nc4200 battery Compaq pavilion dv4 battery , which went on sale at Apple Stores and other retailers on March 11th. It's not a profound rethinking of the first-generation iPad; plenty of things, in fact, haven't changed a bit. But it's a significantly more refined take on a device that was pretty darned polished in the first place.

The original iPad bucked Apple's reputation for lofty pricetags by starting at $499, about half what many pundits had expected. That was partly because Apple priced it aggressively, and partly because it didn't make you spring for 3G wireless and maximum storage capacity unless you needed them. The iPad 2 continues the tradition: You can still spend as little as $499 for one with 16GB of storage space and Wi-Fi capability, or as much as $829 for one with 64GB and both Wi-Fi and 3G wireless. (The AT&T 3G models available last time around have been joined by ones for Verizon Wireless's network; monthly data plans start at $15 for AT&T and $20 for Verizon, and don't require you to sign a contract.) Every version is available in both black and white variants.

By contrast, the Xoom currently comes in only one version: a black model with 32GB and Verizon Wireless 3G. It sells for $799, which is $70 more than the most comparable iPad but not outrageous—if what you want is a black Xoom with 32GB and Verizon 3G.

Apple provided me with an AT&T iPad 2 Compaq presario cq60 battery Compaq pavilion dv6000 battery  for review. After I picked it up, I immediately hopped on a plane and headed to the South by Southwest Interactive geekfest in Austin, where I hoped the tablet might attract envious stares. Nope. Less than 24 hours after the new models had gone on sale, I saw more attendees toting them than original iPads.

The brand-new iPads were easy to spot--the single most striking thing about the second-generation model is that there's so much less of it. The aluminum-and-glass case is now just .34” thick and the Wi-Fi version weighs only 1.33 lbs, making it 33 percent thinner and 15 percent lighter than its predecessor. Adding to the general sleekness is the way the case tapers to a skinny rounded edge rather than the chunky, well-defined sides that made the first iPad look a little like a giant slice of metallic toast.

Many gadget specs are far more exciting in principle than reality, but the iPad's new weight and thickness matter more than the math might suggest. It's much more pleasant to hold for extended periods than its predecessor–it feels less like a classy notebook computer that's had its keyboard surgically removed and more like an entirely new class of device.

The display is still the same pleasing 9.7” color touchscreen with the same 1024-by-768 resolution. Even so, the experience of interacting with it is different and better. As you use your fingertips to slide from screen to screen, zoom into photos, and scroll through Web pages, everything feels more effortlessly responsive. It's that much closer to Apple's favorite adjective for the iPad: Magical.

The sprightly feel comes courtesy of the potent new chips that Apple has crammed into that thin case. This is its first mobile gadget with a fast dual-core processor. Also inside are souped-up graphics capabilities that Apple says are up to nine times faster than before. And the toshiba Pa3534u-1bas battery Toshiba pa3465u-1brs battery  company performed an upgrade that it doesn't publicize by doubling the RAM from 256MB to 512MB.

Despite the more advanced componentry, the iPad's battery life remains the same—and it's impressive for both its duration and its honesty. In a world where laptop claims of “up to twelve hours of battery life” often mean “five hours if you're lucky,” Apple's estimate for the iPad—up to ten hours of Web surfing over Wi-Fi, watching video, and/or listening to music—is utterly realistic. That doesn't compare with Amazon's Kindle, which has a monochrome E-Ink screen that can run for a month on a charge. But it does mean that even iPad junkies may be able to go for several days without venturing near a power plug.

The iPad 2's major “new feature” is only a medium-sized whoop, which is why I haven't mentioned it until now. The tablet now features cameras on the front and back, both of which you can use with FaceTime, the slick, fun video-calling software that also runs on the iPhone 4, the iPod Touch, and Macs. As always, you can only make calls over Wi-Fi, not 3G, and only to other people who own Apple devices that have FaceTime; similar apps without these limitations are likely to pop up.

The cameras can also be used to shoot snapshots, and the rear one does passable 720p high-def video. But the rear camera has an anemic .7 megapixels of still-picture resolution and no flash, and capturing video with a device the size of a magazine doesn't feel particularly natural. (Of course, if you're the type of person who's smitten with the iPad 2, odds are sky high that you already own a phone that can double as an adequate camera.)

Strangely enough, some shoppers may find the cameras less of an inducement to buy than a new accessory: Apple's Lenovo 3000 v100 battery Lenovo 3000 v200 battery insanely clever Smart Cover screen protectors ($39 in polyurethane, $69 in leather). The moment you hold one in the vicinity of the iPad 2's left edge, magnets hidden in the tablet seize the cover's hinge and guide it into place. The articulated surface lets you fold the cover into a triangle that can prop up the iPad in two positions: A graceful slope that makes for comfier typing, and an upright stance that's ideal for movie-watching. And they're lined with a microfiber material that helps to polish away fingerprints from the notoriously smudgy iPad screen.

Available in a total of ten colors (five polyurethane choices for $39 apiece, five $69 leather ones), Smart Covers are ultimately as much about personalization as protection—they leave the iPad's backside vulnerable to scratches—but they're among the most ingenious accessories ever devised by Apple or anybody else.

65,000 other iPad goodies also don't come standard: the third-party App Store programs that are optimized for the tablet's interface roomy screen. They're compelling answers to one of the biggest questions people asked about the first iPad: “What would you do with this thing?” Apple itself is responsible for new iPad versions of two programs that come with every Mac, the iMovie video editor and GarageBand music toolbox. At $4.99 each they're a steal, and proof, if anybody still needs it, that the theory that iPads are good only for consuming content is silly and wrongheaded.

The App Store's bounty makes iPads more useful literally every day, but iOS 4.3, the software that powers Asus m50 battery Compaq pavilion dv6 battery  the tablet, is the modest update that its name suggests. Still, there are a few welcome tweaks: The Safari browser is zippier, and you can stream music and video from any computer equipped with iTunes over your Wi-Fi network and onto the iPad using Home Sharing, or to an Apple TV box via an improved version of AirPlay. Bigger changes will come when Apple announces iOS 5.0, possibly soon.

Speaking of things to come, the iPad's near-monopoly on the tablet business isn't going to last much longer. The PlayBook and TouchPad will show up before long; so will a gaggle of models based on Google's Android 3.0 Honeycomb, the operating system that debuted in rough-but-promising form on the Xoom. The longer you wait to join the tablet age, the more choices you'll have.

Even once the field gets more crowded, though, it's easy to believe that the iPad 2 could retain a comfortable lead on the pack. Apple invented this category and understands it better than anyone else. And by releasing such a solid second-generation machine so swiftly, it's told the rest of the industry that catching up could turn out to be a never-ending battle.

Now Japanese crisis - Time for nuclear review

    Chernobyl ... now Japanese crisis

TWENTY-FIVE years after the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in Ukraine, fears that Japan's nuclear crisis may trigger similar ramifications have caused governments worldwide to review their adoption of nuclear energy.
Japan, hit with a 9.0 magnitude earthquake and tsunami last Friday, is now coping with its own nuclear crisis after the tsunami caused Fukushima Daiichi power station's reactor to start overheating, causing radiation.
This nuclear scare has caused many nations to exercise stress tests on exiting nuclear reactors, with some even shutting down older nuclear power plants.

But an industry observer highlights that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. The shutting of nuclear power Hp pavilion dv2200 battery Hp pavilion dv5000 battery  plants globally will result in higher utilisation of gas and coal (commodities that will not last forever), which will drive commodity prices up further. A London Commodity Brokers report issued on Thursday said that European coal futures for 2012 have added

9% to US$ 134/tonnes since Friday's close after the earthquake and resulting tsunami shut some Japanese nuclear power plants, potentially forcing the country to burn more coal.

Malaysia, which has expressed interests in developing nuclear energy for future usage, currently relies heavily on coal and gas for electricity supply, with coal almost entirely imported and gas supply from Peninsular Malaysia fast diminishing.

The import of gas needs to commence within the next few years, Performance Management and Delivery Unit director for oil, gas and energy under the New Key Economic Areas Dr Emir Mavani told StarBizWeek.

The total potential of green energy is limited to around 4,000 MW, based on the assessment by the Green Technology Corp of Malaysia.

Coal, oil, gas, hydropower and nuclear energy are widely considered as commercial energy sources, with established economic competitiveness and supply chains globally.

“In contrast, renewable energy sources, including solar power Hp pavilion dv6000 battery
Hp pavilion dv9700 battery , are considered alternative energy sources and not expected to be capable of substituting commercial energy sources. Nevertheless, renewable energy sources are expected to play an important role in reducing commercial energy demand, by augmenting overall energy supply,” said Dr Emir.

    Globally

In the wake of Japan's nuclear crisis, governments globally are re-looking at safety aspects of their current operating nuclear power plants and have also started to question the wisdom in relying on civil nuclear energy as part of an energy mix given the potential safety hazards in the eventuality of a nuclear power plant meltdown.

China, the world's second-biggest energy user, has taken pro-active measures by suspending approvals for new plants and those in the pre-development plans until nuclear safety regulations are approved. With some 13 reactors in operation now, the country is currently building roughly 27 new reactors as part of its proposed plan to have over 100 nuclear power plants in the coming years.

European Union (EU) energy ministers have collectively agreed to carry out stress tests on the 143 nuclear power plants spread across 14 EU countries, following the recent nuclear crisis in Japan.
The stress tests will include risk assessments of possible damage by earthquakes, terrorist attacks, power fallouts and tsunamis among others.

The EU Energy Commissioner Guenther Oettinger had also the raised the prospects of a nuclear-free future for Europe in a meeting held last Tuesday among EU nations to discuss the nuclear crisis and safety measures.

Germany, which has 17 nuclear reactors operating currently, has decided to shutdown seven of its oldest reactors for a three-month duration to conduct safety probes.

French President Nicholas Sarkozy said that the recent nuclear crisis has given rise to questions on safety of nuclear power stations and its importance in energy mix.

However, France, the second-largest producer of nuclear power Sony vgp-bps13/b battery
Sony vgp-bps2 battery worldwide after the US with some 58 reactors operating now, will continue relying on nuclear energy given that it is an essential element of the country's energy independence.

US President Barack Obama, who is a proponent of nuclear energy development, is still keen on pursuing nuclear power as the country's overall energy plan. He said the country would take lessons learnt from Japan and continuously update how the US approached nuclear safety, and has asked the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission to conduct a “comprehensive review” of the safety of all US nuclear plants.

The US has some 104 nuclear reactors providing 20% of the nation's electricity. It was reported by various news agencies that no new nuclear power plant has been built in the country since it experienced its own nuclear disaster in 1979, when a reactor at the Third Mile Island power plant, Pennsylvania, overheated causing radioactive gases to be released.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in an interview with CNN that he was reconsidering nuclear energy for the country due to the radiation leaks stemming from Japan's nuclear crisis.

He was reported to have said that the uncertainty over how the crisis will play out has left a cloud' hanging over the world and he was not keen to pursue civil nuclear energy in the coming years.

    Malaysia

Malaysia has started to look at the feasibility of utilising nuclear energy as part of the country's energy mix. This is due to the power sector facing a major challenge as declining gas production will have an impact on the power Sony vgp-bps2c battery Sony vgp-bps8a battery generation industry. Currently, 58% of power generated in Peninsular Malaysia is based on natural gas, with the remainder coming from coal (37%) and hydro (5%).

A foreign research analyst says the country has to look at other renewable energy options, such as nuclear energy, especially since rising coal prices were impacting the bottomline of the country's energy provider, Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB).

“It is unfair that TNB has to bear the brunt of rising coal prices without electricity tariffs moving up. What needs to be worked out is a proper cost-pass through mechanism,” she says.

However, she adds that renewable energies such as solar and wind depend very much on nature, which could impact the sustainable production of energy.

Under the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP), Malaysia is exploring the option of deploying nuclear energy to meet future demand and diversify the energy mix for Peninsular Malaysia. A Nuclear Power Development Steering Committee, headed by the Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry, was set up in June 2009 to plan for the country's potential nuclear energy needs.

The committee will prepare a Nuclear Power Infrastructure Development Plan to be ready by 2013, of which the ETP says that a nuclear power Gateway squ-412 battery Sony vgp-bps2c battery pre-feasibility study and initial site selection study has already been undertaken.

The plan will lay out a development timeframe of 12 years from pre-project to commissioning of a twin-unit nuclear power plant with a total capacity of two gigawatts costing up to RM21.3bil, with the first unit to be operational by 2021.

The rational behind pushing nuclear energy adoption is that it would be cost-competitive, supplying the cheapest source of energy. Aside form this, nuclear power is a cleaner energy than coal and gas (zero grams of carbon dioxide equivalent per kwh vs 800 and 400 grams respectively.)

While these details have been made known in the ETP, what many may be interested to note is that a key enabler to the nuclear energy project taking off is public acceptance.

Many quarters have expressed concern over the development of nuclear power Apple a1185 battery Apple a1175 battery plants locally, with political figureheads as well as environmental and consumers groups urging the government to re-consider other renewable energy options instead of adopting nuclear energy.
Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Peter Chin Fah Kui said that the proposal to construct nuclear power plants for electricity has not been decided yet by the Cabinet.

The Environmental Protection Society Malaysia president Nithi Nesaduraio says that Malaysia does not need nuclear power plants, with such facilities left vulnerable to earthquakes, tsunamis and floods.
However, an industry source familiar with the country's nuclear development plans, says that it is premature to make any call on the impact to Malaysia's nuclear plan.
“Malaysia is not in an earthquake belt and the tsunami risk has been taken into account in the local nuclear power plant siting activity,” says the source.

It is good to point out here that the nuclear reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi power stations had shut off automatically after the earthquake but the emergency cooling systems failed to work after the tsunami damaged the plant's local backups. This has led the Japanese authorities to douse water onto the nuclear reactor from aerial and ground levels to keep it cool.

Back to Malaysia among the renewable energies up for consideration under the energy mix include hydro, solar and biomass. But the drawback of solar and biomass plants is that the energy output would pale in comparison to the output of nuclear power plants.

Dr Emir says a major constraint of renewable energy sources is availability.
For example, solar power supply is dependent on the availability of sunshine, which is constraint by climatic conditions, such as rain or clouds, and unavailable at night.

Hydropower is constraint by the catchment area and the size of the reservoir. The amount of electricity that could be generated by hydropower Ibm thinkpad x61 battery Ibm thinkpad x41 battery stations are limited by the volume of water that could be stored in the reservoir.

Dr Emir adds that to compensate for these constraints, redundant back-up electricity generation capacity need to be established, in the event that such renewable energy sources are not available in time of need. This would increase overall investment cost.

“Should Malaysia proceed with nuclear power plants, there needs to be an independent watchdog that is established to oversee the safety requirements on these plants,” says an industry observer.
As the world awaits to assess the potential damage from Japan's nuclear crisis, this may be the right time to reflect on the country's future energy mix and potential dependency on nuclear power.

Battery Research and Markets: Electric Vehicle Traction Batteries 2011-2021

battery power news post by batterylaptoppower.com

This comprehensive report has detailed assessments and forecasts for all the sectors using and likely to use traction batteries. There are chapters on heavy industrial, light industrial/commercial, mobility for the disabled, two wheel and allied, pure electric cars, hybrid cars, golf cars, military, marine and other. The profusion of pictures, diagrams and tables pulls the subject together to give an independent view of the future ten years. Unit sales, unit prices and total market value are forecast for each sector for 2011-2021.

The replacement market is quantified and ten year dell d630 battery dell d620 battery technology trends by sector are in there too, with a view on winning and losing technologies and companies. This is the essential reference book for those who are anywhere in the hybrid and pure electric vehicle value chain. Those making materials, cells, battery sets or vehicles, researchers, legislators and market analysts will find it invaluable.

The whole picture With vehicle traction batteries it is important to look at the whole picture and this report does it for the first time. The rapidly growing market for traction batteries will exceed $55 billion in only ten years. However that spans battery sets up to $500,000 each with great sophistication needed for military, marine and solar aircraft use. Huge numbers of low cost batteries are being used for e-bikes but even here several new technologies are appearing.

The largest replacement market is for e-bikes today and the value market for replacement batteries will not be dominated by cars when these batteries last the life of the car - something likely to happen within ten years. The trends are therefore complex and that is why IDTechEx has analysed them with great care. Vehicle manufacturers are often employing new battery Hp pavilion dv9700 battery HP pavilion dv2000 battery  technology first in their forklifts or e-bikes, not cars, yet there is huge progress with car batteries as well - indeed oversupply is probable in this sector at some stage. The mix is changing too.

The second largest volume of electric vehicles being made in 2010 is mobility aids for the disabled but in ten years time it will be hybrid cars. The market for car traction batteries will be larger than the others but there will only be room for six or so winners in car batteries and other suppliers and users will need to dominate their own niches to achieve enduring growth and profits. Strategy must be decided now. In this report, researched in 2010 and frequently updated, we analyse the successes, the needs, the statistics and the market potential for traction batteries for all the major applications.

This has never been done before. It is important to look at the whole picture because traction battery  manufacturers typically sell horizontally across many applications and electric vehicle manufacturers increasingly make versions for many applications - heavy industrial, on road, leisure and so on. Indeed, the smarter putative suppliers will choose the sectors that best leverage their strengths rather than join the herd and be obliterated by corporations of up to $100 billion in size enjoying prodigious government support.

    5) Why does the battery become warm whilst it is being charged?
During the charging process, as the rechargeable battery reaches full power capacity some of the energy converts to heat. A battery in good condition should become warm to the touch at this point, but not become hot. If you have a Dewalt battery that gets hot after a full charge the battery or charger unit has developed a fault or reached the end of its useful service life.
    6) Can the temperature affect a Dewalt battery Dewalt DW9057 battery Dewalt DE9091 battery or it’s operating performance?
Yes. If the temperature is cold (below 40 degrees Fahrenheit) or too hot (105 degrees Fahrenheit or more) it will not accept a full charge. If charging is attempted in these temperature extremes the battery in most cases will suffer a reaction and be damaged, affecting it’s runtime and overall performance when fitted to a power tool.
    7) Can an automotive charger be used with Dewalt cordless tool batteries?
Yes. However, only the DW9109 model can be used. This will accept batteries from 7.2 volt to 18 volt in size.
    8) Does a Dewalt “15 minute” rapid charger give as much power as a 1 or 2 hour charger?
Yes. The 15 minute fast charger is an “intelligent” model that uses a three (3) stage process to top up each battery pack. This high tech unit measures each internal cell, balances them, and fills each cell up to it’s maximum possible capacity.
    9) Can the “15 minute” intelligent charger damage a battery beacuse of it’s very fast charging?
No. Due to a patented termination system this unit will not damage or harm any battery Panasonic EY9021B battery EY9251 battery used in it. This particular charger will allow you to care for your power tools battery and get the maximum service life from it.
    10) If  my Dewalt battery will not hold power or accept a new charge is it faulty?
Possibly. There are however several reasons why you may have this problem. If the pack has a broken connection inside, or a single internal or multiple cell has failed, the battery will be unuseable. Other options are the battery has been charged incorrectly or with a damaged / faulty battery charger. There could be dirt or an object preventing the contacts working. Finally, due to use and age it could of reached the end of it’s normal service life.

Lenovo's Reviews : ThinkPad X220 a worthy competitor to MacBook Air

At the All Things Digital conference last June, I had a chance to question Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer about when Windows laptops would be able to compete with the iPad when it comes to battery life. He said to stay tuned. I have stayed tuned but haven't heard much from Microsoft about battery life. However, I did just get my hands on a new Windows 7 notebook PC from Lenovo, which claims to actually outlast the iPad's rated 10 hours of battery life.

The ThinkPad X220, Lenovo thinkpad r60 battery , Lenovo 3000 n100 0689 battery ,which will be available in April as both a standard notebook PC and as a convertible PC/tablet, boasts an amazing 24 hours of battery life with an add-on external battery pack that attaches to the bottom of the unit. Even without the external battery, Lenovo says the laptop can get an impressive 15 hours on its internal 9-cell battery. There are caveats to those claims -- your actual time will vary and will probably be less.

I didn't do any formal battery testing but I did use it for several hours with no sign of the battery dying. My sense is that the iPad's battery will still outlast the Lenovo's if you don't add the external battery or take advantage of every conceivable battery saving tip. But the fact that it comes close is impressive considering that the Lenovo is a fast, full-fledged PC with a spinning hard drive.

The unit Lenovo sent me to test had one of Intel's new Sandy Bridge processors running at 2.7 GHz, which Lenovo says is 20 percent faster than previous generations with twice the graphics performance. It comes standard with 4 gigabytes of RAM (expandable to 8) and a 320 GB hard drive. The company hasn't announced pricing, but I believe it will start at about $900.

The new machine has a gorgeous 12.5 inch high-definition display that looked great when running websites and playing movies, and you can actually hear the speakers, which is not the case with some other lightweight machines. One of my pet peeves about some laptops Ibm thinkpad t60 battery Ibm thinkpad r60 battery are speakers that aren't loud enough to hear without headphones.

Lenovo has also improved the microphone to reduce background noise when using it as a phone or for Web conferencing, and to pick up sounds from across the room when using it as a speaker phone.
The unit I'm testing is sitting right next to the 11-inch MacBook Air that I purchased just a few weeks ago. If I hadn't bought the MacBook, I would be seriously tempted to buy the Lenovo. True, it's eight ounces heavier and the standard model has an old fashioned hard drive instead of a solid state drive that uses flash memory instead of a spinning disc, but it's still quite portable and the extra screen real estate is welcome, as is the more spacious hard drive. For those willing to pay extra for a flash drive, Lenovo will offer it as an option. Like the MacBook Air, it wakes up from sleep very quickly, which was one of Apple's major selling points when it announced the Air.

I also love Lenovo's excellent keyboard and pointing devices. Lenovo, which bought IBM's PC division in 2004, has maintained IBM's tradition of great PC keyboards, even on its ultraportable models. Like the MacBook Air, the keyboard has the same spacing as a desktop keyboard. But unlike the Air, the keys themselves have a lot of "travel" or motion, which provides more positive feedback and helps me type with fewer errors. Lenovo is one of the few PC makers to offer users a choice between a pointing stick, which sticks up between the G, H and B keys to let you move the cursor with one finger, and a button-less trackpad.

My Lenovo test machine arrived a few days before Apple started selling its new iPad 2, which is about one-third of an inch thick and weighs only 1.33 pounds. Of course, there's no direct way to truly compare a notebook PC Compaq pavilion dv6 battery Compaq pavilion dv4 battery with a tablet -- they're different animals. Still, there are people who are now using iPads and other tablets instead of laptops and there are those, including Apple CEO Steve Jobs, who talk about the "post-PC era," implying that tablet PCs will take over a big slice of the portable computing market.
Ironically, the biggest challenger to that premise is Apple, whose 11-inch MacBook Air is only a pound heavier than the iPad 2. And even though the Lenovo is more than twice the weight of the iPad 2, it's still light enough to carry around all day.

Lenovo will ship a convertible version of the X220 with a touch screen in addition to the keyboard, but it will actually be heavier than the keyboard-only model I tested. Somehow, I think that's a bit of a non-starter for most people. If you want a tablet, buy an iPad or one of the Android tablets that will be coming out this year.
While the difference between tablets and laptops will start to blur over time, for the moment at least, there is a big market for little laptops, especially for people who do a lot of writing and need a good keyboard and those who need to be able to run Windows or Mac OS X. That may change. But until it does, I'm a big fan of lighter laptops with longer battery life.

    6) Can the temperature affect a Dewalt battery or it’s operating performance?
Yes. The 15 minute fast charger is an “intelligent” model that uses a three (3) stage process to top up each DE0240 battery 152250-27 battery pack. This high tech unit measures each internal cell, balances them, and fills each cell up to it’s maximum possible capacity.
    9) Can the “15 minute” intelligent charger damage a battery beacuse of it’s very fast charging?
No. Due to a patented termination system this unit will not damage or harm any battery used in it.
