Will Rise of Tablet Computers End Up Killing the Laptop & laptop battery ,laptop AC adapter?

Ever since Apple introduced the iPad earlier this year, some tech experts have predicted that consumers will all but abandon their laptops for lighter and more compact tablet computers.

Certainly the huge success of the iPad and the growing list of imitators—along with a big drop in laptop sales—has fueled that perception.

The Blackberry Playbook
The Blackberry Playbook Tablet PC

But others in the industry believe the expected demise of the laptop hp 530 battery may be premature.

Instead, the line between laptop, tablet computer and smartphone will likely blur as a variety of new products emerges that will appeal to different types of consumers.

As a result, investors will be watching closely just how quickly laptop makers such as HP , Acer and Samsung adapt to this new environment.

Few expect the laptop to go away completely. And the question remains whether tablets could ever fully replace a laptop.

“That is the great debate,” says Rhoda Alexander, Director Monitor Research for IHS iSuppli Corporation. “My perspective is that the iPad is having an impact.”

Alexander suggests that the major PC vendors including HP and Dell are already moving quickly to develop their own tablet devices. But it won’t just be a case of copying the iPad, she adds.

“They will likely take a twin approach to it,” says Alexander. “This means they’ll continue with a full OS tablet hp nc8430 battery but in a slate form factor, as well as offering a mobile operating system version.”

At present, she says, the markets are developing side by side, with a substantial portion of the tablet sales occurring as added devices.

However, the long term could be a very different story, especially if tablets develop full-function operating systems that can manage the same tasks as laptops.

One vendor, China-based Lenovo, is gearing up to bring its own tablet to market, first in its native China in the New Year and to the North American market by March or April.

Rory Read, president and COO at Lenovo, says this device, called the Lepad, could be a mobile “third screen,” between the traditional laptop and smartphone.

“The Lepad is going to be an interesting convergence of technologies between the laptop, the smartphone and all smart devices,” Read said in a recent interview on CNBC Asia. “That trend is going to drive innovation for the next three to five years.”

For now, there are strong doubts that there is room in the Hp pavilion dv9700 battery market, let alone inside business traveler’s carry-on bags, for another device. Yet the convergence of the devices could drive innovation, and with it the market.

“People are already carrying two screens, and I don’t see it going to a third,” says Rob Enderle, principal analyst for the Enderle Group. “The tablet is going to have to replace one of them and most of us think it could replace the laptop.”

Some Hp probook 4720s battery business travelers certainly agree, noting that the tablet in its current form is certainly a good device for digesting content on the go.

“The long battery life coupled with the apps, entertainment and reader functionality makes it the perfect traveling companion,” says Erica Dublin, founder of the travel site SeeJaneFly.com. “Making a decision to purchase one becomes a lot easier when you know this isn’t just another work device. Tablets can be a lot more accessible than a smartphone or laptop for travelers.”

However, most experts agree that the tablet as it currently stands is not a very good content creation device, which Acer aspire 5720 battery is what many business road warriors need most.

“Depending on what you are doing,” says Alexander, “it can be easier to do on a notebook. But as these tablets mature and add more functionality, they will have better creation elements built into the system.”

Thus the tablet’s biggest drawback remains the lack of a keyboard, and while there are wireless keyboards for the iPad and other slate devices, Enderle says that once you add a stand for the screen and a keyboard, you pretty much have a laptop minus the hinge. This in itself doesn’t reduce what you’re bringing, and these issues could well be signs and portents for the future.

“There has already been a reset on how people are using the iPad Acer aspire 4720 battery ,” says Enderle. “Early iPad people thought it was going to be ‘my everything device,’ but since it came out, half the people I know have gone back to notebooks. What is interesting is that they have moved to an Apple notebook not a Windows machine.”

The other factor to consider, says Enderle, is that no other product in the category has been as successful as the iPad. He notes that the Samsung Galaxy had good sell to numbers, but not good sell through numbers at retail, and we could see history repeating itself. There is a chance, he says, that the tablet market could wind up like the digital music player market: dominated by Apple.

There were of course MP3 Acer aspire 5920 battery and other digital music players before the iPod arrived, but since its release in late 2001, it has dominated the market. Says Enderle, “There is a chance the same thing could happen here.”

However, despite these warnings, the Apple  iPad factored into Gartner’s PC sales prediction for this year. With just five weeks remaining in 2010, Gartner cut its forecast for PC shipments.

Gartner Research Director George Shiffler stressed that forecast reductions actually reflected a general re-thinking of its forecast for mobile PC sales to the U.S. and Western European home markets, based on the impact of the Apple iPads Acer as07b41 battery as well as other media tablets including those made by traditional PC vendors.

“Our forecast assumes other vendors like HP, Dell, Acer and Samsung will offer their own versions of a media tablet that will be more competitively priced relative to mini-notebooks and low-end standard mobile PCs than the iPad,” says Shiffler. “And that’s what drives a lot of the expected tablet growth, but at the expensive of mobile PC sales.”

However, IHS iSuppli’s Alexander stresses that the rumors of death for the netbook have been exaggerated, especially as they remain a functional machine for the education sector, but adds that the iPad could be poised for growth in this market as well.

“When we look at Apple’s production figures for next year, we anticipate that they will target the educational market, which has always been a strong sector for the laptop.” Alexander says that there is a lot to be said for a tablet for a child, as it is a very intuitive device that doesn’t take a lot dell d630 battery to bring people up to speed to use. “It could be interesting to see how it plays out.”

She says that in the end, the ultimate winner could be the vendor that figures out to make a solution as fast, responsive and easy to use as a media tablet, “but with the full power of a notebook PC.”

Enderle agrees. “We are looking at a change to laptop-like products . The tablets are good for browsing and reading, but it is hard to work on. The iPad and other media tablets will force laptops to evolve. It is going to be the company that doesn’t look for change that will be passed by like they were standing still.”

Top 10 tips get the most out of your laptop battery,by batterylaptoppower.com

When manufacturers talk about how great their laptops are one of the feature they all highlight is battery life. Remember when getting a couple hours out your laptop battery was awesome? Yeah now getting something less than 5 or even 8 hours isn’t acceptable. The only problem is that in the real world it’s often hard to get those kinds of results, unless you know a few tricks.

It doesn’t take too much to get a lot more time out of your battery, just, well, 10 simple things:

  1. Turn off WiFi and Bluetooth if you don’t need them. Obviously if you’re trying to be online when you’re on battery power you need to keep these on, but if you’re on a flight or someplace where you aren’t going to be online, just turn the WiFi off. Same goes for Bluetooth, if you don’t need it on, turn it off.

  2. Turn down your screen brightness. While screens are a lot more efficient than the used to be, you can still squeeze more time out of your battery if the screen isn’t at full power. The trick here is turn down the screen until it’s too dark to use, then bump it up a notch or two. That should give you the right balance of brightness and power saving.

  3. If you have a backlit keyboard, turn the light off. Just like the screen, the keyboard light drains the battery pretty quickly.

  4. If you’re not using it, quit it. Every app that is running needs a little processor and hard drive time to stay running, all those apps add up to more drain. And don’t just quit the apps you can see all the extras like Dropbox or mouse tools or other add ons use power too…if you don’t really need them, just quit them.

  5. If your laptop has a “power saving mode” use it. For example on MacBook Pros there is a setting for More Performance (it can tap into the graphics chip) or Better Battery (no graphics chip). Better battery is clearly the choice here.

  6. Set your screen to turn off if not used in a couple minutes. I know it seems extreme, but if you can set your screen to turn off if you’re idle for a minute or two…believe it or not it will make a difference.

  7. Have your computer go to sleep if idle for five minutes. Yes, I know, it sounds extreme, but still the idea is that if you’re not actively using your machine, then turning the screen off and going to sleep will help you eek out more power.

  8. Avoid connecting things to USB ports or the DVD drive. You want to suck your batter dry in a flash? Connect a phone that needs to charge into your machine and watch a movie off the DVD drive at the same time. Those two are huge power draws, especially USB drives and phones that need charging (obviously a charging phone will suck power straight out of your battery). Just try to put off or avoid using them for long.

  9. Use a RAM disk. This is a little geeky, but here’s the idea. If you need to work on a document instead of constantly reading and writing to your hard drive, a RAM disk is a temporary disk that is saved all in RAM. Not accessing the drive means less power usage. Back in the day we used to use RAM disks to speed up all sorts of functions on our machines (an old trick was to put your Firefox cache on a RAM disk), but the trick seems to have fallen out of favor. The utility I used on my Mac (and unwisely deleted) doesn’t seem to be available, but OS X Daily has simple instructions for Mac users. For Windows users I haven’t been able to find something that looks reliable (suggestions are welcome).

  10. Run your battery down once a month. I know this is controversial. Yes, it was certainly true that older batteries had a

“memory effect” problem, but it was thought that new ones didn’t. I guess we were wrong because even Apple recommends draining your battery once a month. In fact, I’m draining my battery as I’m writing this post. Not only that I’ve disregarded all the advice here (well except for using the DVD drive). It’s still taken nearly two hours to run the machine until it’s down to reserve power. The next step is to just let the the machine drop into sleep and run the battery completely down, then charge it back up.

I hope these tips help you, for myself when I follow the advice here I can still get 3 or 4 hours out of my 2008 era MBP. Which is pretty good I think.

Just remember the basic precept: if you don’t need it, turn it off, turn it down, or quit it.

www.batterylaptoppower.com – Hacking Your Spouse’s Email Could Land You In Jail For Half A Decade

Before you consider snooping in your spouse’s email, you may want to pay close attention to a case unfolding in Michigan in which a man faces up to five years of prison for hacking into his wife’s messages.

The Detroit Free Press reports the man faces felony charges under a Michigan anti-hacking statute that’s usually used to prosecute identity theft and corporate espionage. The accused was trying to find out whether or not his wife was cheating. The good news for him and any others who go through their significant others’ email is that a legal expert doesn’t think the Oakland County prosecutor has much of a case:

“It’s going to be interesting because there are no clear legal answers here,” the expert told the Free Press. “I would guess there is enough gray area to suggest that she could not have an absolute Acer as07b41 battery expectation of privacy.”

What sort of electronic monitoring do you do on your significant other?

Lenovo IdeaPad U260 review , Lenovo battey and Lenovo AC adapter

We mean this with no disrespect to Lenovo, but when you first lay eyes (or hands) on the incredibly attractive IdeaPad U260, it's pretty hard to believe that it was made by the company. Sure, the Chinese laptop manufacturer has always had a certain knack for creating very powerful and well-rounded ultraportables, but "drop-dead gorgeous" isn't exactly how we'd describe systems like the Lenovo IdeaPad U160, Edge 11, or ThinkPad X301. The U260  Lenovo 41u5025 battery is indeed a total 180 for the company, and it's one of the most dapper and svelte laptops we've seen in a long time -- there's no question about it, its magnesium-aluminum alloy shell, leather palm rest, and glass touchpad even give the newest MacBook Airs a run for their money. But even better, the 12.5-inch system has the brawn to match that external beauty – its 0.7-inch shell has been injected with a Core i5 ULV processor, 4GB of RAM, and 320GB of storage. At $1,100 (the Core i3 version starts at $999), there's no denying that it's more than enticing, but is the U260 immune to Lenovo's typical ultraportable pain points, including poor battery life and tepid temperatures? We've been lucky enough to spend the last few days with the beautiful machine (yes, we took it on vacation!), so jump down below to find out in our full review!

Look and feel

It's obvious by now that we've got a real crush on the U260's bronzish, mocha exterior (it comes in an orange hue as well), and a glance at a few of the pictures in the gallery above makes it very easy to see why. It isn't as minimalistic as some others out there -- say Google's Cr-48 --but the soft-to-the-touch magnesium-aluminum alloy that envelops the system like a book cover gives the entire system a very clean and simplified look. Believe us, it's more than a welcome change from the glossy lids and rounded edges that we've gotten used to on the Lenovo 3000 v100 battery ThinkPad Edge family. The U260 also feels as high-end as it looks -- it may not have a unibody build, but it has a very rigid construction and that almost-rubbery metal lid not only seems to protect it from scratches, but feels really soft in hand. No, seriously, we've caught ourselves petting this thing a couple of times. Under the lid, the U260 loses its metal coverings, yet has an equally soft faux leather palm rest.

But, it's those aesthetic pieces combined with the U260's very slender design that really makes it turn heads. The system is a uniform 0.7-inches, which means there's no enlarged battery back or slight flare in the front to make it appear uneven, and when you open it up you certainly notice the svelteness of the screen. At 3.4-pounds, the U260 was just slightly heavier than pulling out a netbook at airport security, and it's just the right size and weight to comfortably transport it from the desk to the couch with one hand. Naturally, to maintain its lean body, Lenovo had to nix the DVD drive, but the U260 still houses a good array of ports along its edges. The right side is home to a USB socket and headphone jack, while the left houses USB, Ethernet, HDMI, and VGA ports. Unfortunately, there's no SD card slot, Lenovo 3000 v200 battery and while there's a place for an ExpressCard card slot, it doesn't open.

Keyboard, touchpad, and screen

There's no doubt that Lenovo knows how to make some of the best keyboards around (see: Thinkpad Edge, ThinkPad T410), but the one on the U260 leaves a bit more to be desired. Don't get us wrong, the squircle shaped, matte keys have a great curve to them and feel as if they were molded for our fingertips, however, the chiclet layout is a bit cramped and doesn't stretch to the edges of the panel. Instead, the right Shift key is noticeably smaller than the one on the left and even the Caps Lock and Tab keys on the left are shrunken. It's not a deal breaker, but it did take us a bit of time to get into the groove of typing this review. Our bigger complaint about the keyboard comes with its lack of a backlight. In fact, it actually seems like oversight to not include a backlit keyboard option on a higher end system like the U260, and we definitely found ourselves wishing it was a feature in a dimly lit airplane cabin.

However, the polished glass touchpad receives our highest stamp of approval. The smooth surface, which feels similar to that a piece of sea glass, Lenovo thinkpad r60 battery was incredibly soft on our index finger and just let the cursor glide along. Additionally, the two dedicated right and left mouse buttons, although slightly mushy, were quite comfortable. While two-finger scrolling worked decently in Word and Chrome, the dedicated scroll strip happens to give you a bit more control.

So, what's it like using the world's first laptop with a 12.5-inch display? To be honest, not that different than using a laptop with a 12.1-inch panel, considering the new screen still has the typical 1366 x 768 resolution. Okay, so it's not exactly great for pixel density, but that doesn't mean we're not seriously impressed with the anti-glare matte display. Yes, that means there's no glossiness or reflections, and yes, it's great! We actually were able to work on the laptop on a bright day without putting up any sort of shade. Too boot, the display is quite bright and the viewing angles are rather decent -- we had no problem sharing the screen in a tight airplane seat with our neighbor. We do have one complaint though -- the screen bezel is certainly glossy and Lenovo 3000 c200 8922 battery can pick up its fair share of fingerprints.

Performance and battery life

Like the ThinkPad Edge 11, the U260 is available with both Core i3 and i5 ultra-low voltage processors -- Lenovo sent us the highest end configuration with a 1.33GHz Core i5 CPU and 4GB of RAM. As one would expect, the machine handled the brunt of our usual computing tasks, including simultaneously writing this review in Microsoft Word, chatting with friends in Trillian, checking our Twitter feed in TweetDeck, and surfing the web with multiple tabs open in Lenovo 3000 n100 0689 battery Chrome. Even when we threw a 720p clip into the mix the system was able to keep up.

Speaking of HD content, the machine has no problems with full HD video, but as you can see from its 3DMark scores, it's definitely not a gaming rig. It should be fine for some light mainstream or Flash games, but you're not gonna want to fire up Black Ops on this thing, unless you're cool with playing at very, very low settings. We have to admit it would have been nice to see Lenovo put the U260 up with both discrete graphics and SSD options, though the latter can be accomplished on your own as the entire bottom of the system is removable. Obviously, we didn't test the waters on that with our review unit.

Unfortunately, battery life is the U260's (expected) Achilles heel. On our usual video rundown test, which loops the same standard definition video with brightness set at 65 percent, the integrated 20Whr, four-cell Lenovo 3000 n100 0768 battery Lithium Polymer battery lasted just two hours and 56 minutes. In regular use -- basically surfing the web and writing this review -- the system ran for about three hours and 20 minutes. Obviously, for a highly mobile system like this, the endurance is pretty terrible, and because there's no way to swap out the battery, you're pretty much stuck dragging the AC adapter with this thing everywhere you go.

Thankfully, there's better news on the heat side of things. Given our experience with the U160, we expected the system to get rather warm, but for the most part the system stayed relatively cool thanks to its "breathable keyboard" and Intel's latest Advanced Cooling technology. While we did notice the bottom right edge getting slightly warm, the vents in the back kept the entire chassis, including the keyboard and touchpad, at room temperature.

Software-wise, Lenovo's actually done a decent job of keeping this one crapware free. However, like the U160 it has a "Smile Dock," which can be launched by clicking on that creepy smile icon on the desktop. You can search Google and check Weatherbug from the dock itself, but other than that it's pretty useless and takes up precious screen real estate. Oovoo and McAfee are also preloaded.

Wrap-up

How much are you willing to sacrifice for love? If you're anything like us, you're absolutely smitten with the U260's metal build, soft leather palm rest, brushed glass touchpad, and the fact that it packs Core i5 power in such a thin shell. But you're also asking yourself one question: can you live with just three to three and a half hours of battery life? For us the answer is sadly a flat no -- in fact, that sort of battery life is simply unacceptable in our book, especially when you consider that equally portable systems like the Toshiba Portege R705 or the new MacBook Airs last at least two hours longer on a charge. It's a sad story of an amazingly attractive and solid performing laptop brought down by a single fatal flaw -- but if you can get past the battery life, nearly everything else about the U260 is almost perfect.

Just got an iPad? The best apps, accessories and tips | by batteylaptoppower.com

So, Santa stuffed an ipad into your stocking on Christmas (insert mythical figure / appropriate receptacle / holiday of choice), and you’re wondering what to do with the thing? First of all, congratulations! The iPad can be a wonderful, loyal companion and friend, but it can also take a while to warm up to. As we always say, a device is only as good as its apps, both literally and figuratively: it’ll take some time to figure out what you want to get from the iTunes Store that will flesh out your experience, but it will also take some time to see which nooks and crannies of your life the iPad can fill, and what roles you’ll want it to take over from your laptop and phone. Follow along after the break as we show you how to wring the most out of your shiny new tablet.

iPad apps

Entertainment

Netflix (free). We’ve probably spent more time watching Netflix than doing anything else on the iPad. The app is free, the service is cheap, and the content is plentiful. The UI isn’t as elegant as some of the other apps Acer as09b35 battery , but it’s what’s on the queue that counts.

Hulu+ (free). Another free app, another paid service. Unlike Netflix, Hulu+ has some ads, and it’s tough to swallow paying for stuff you might get for free in your web browser, but that doesn’t seem to be stopping anybody — video and the iPad were just meant to be.

Wholesaler & distributor of laptop batteries replacement for Compaq, HP, Dell, Acer, Sony, IBM, Toshiba. Our notebook batteries are made from high quality battery cells, which offer the quality and capacity as their (Original Equipment Manufacturer) counterparts. We guarantee our laptop batteries for full 1 year warranty and 30-day money back on every laptop battery.

Kindle (free). There are plenty of e-book services, all of them with competent iPad apps, but Kindle is our favorite. It syncs beautifully between iPhone, Kindle, iPad, and any other device you might think of, and has a very simple, fast UI.

Zinio (free). Zinio is to magazines what Kindle is to books. Instead of trying something ultra fancy and “magazine 2.0″-ey, Zinio just takes the original magazine layouts and presents them in a simple iPad view. There are free preview articles to get your feet wet, and the magazines themselves cost about the same as print subscriptions and off-the-rack copies will cost you.

Engadget (free). It’s free, and it’s Engadget. What more do you need to know?

Productivity

Pages ($9.99). This is the MS Word of the iPad. We wish it was a bit smarter about accessing your files (Google Docs sync, anyone?), but the great UI and surprisingly deep feature set makes it the de facto document editor for the tablet .

GoodReader ($2.99). GoodReader works as the bridge between your iPad and wherever you might’ve stashed your documents online. You can set it up to sync from Google Docs, MobileMe, Dropbox and more, and it has great formatting and annotating abilities for reading and Acer squ-406 battery marking up your PDFs or .docs.

Dropbox (free). Dropbox builds its own app for getting files on and off the cloud, and it’s very good as well. You lose a bit in functionality, in comparison to GoodReader, but you gain a vastly simpler interface.

Twitter (free). This shouldn’t need any explanation, but kudos to Twitter for creating a beautiful and functional #iPadapp.

Adobe Ideas (free). There are plenty of great drawing apps for the iPad (Brushes, Art Studio, and SketchBook come to mind), but Adobe Ideas is free, simple, Acer as09d31 battery and very pretty to look at.

Music

Beatwave (free). There are lots of ways to create beats and loops on the iPad, but Beatwave is just fun. It’s free as well, though you can pay to unlock further functionality.

Virtuoso (free). Another free gem, Virtuoso is a piano. You get two rows of keys, and you can either use them both yourself (one set as the bass octaves, one for the treble, for instance), or you can flip one row around for use by a friend. “Heart and Soul,” here you come!

KORG iMS-20 ($15.99). Want to make some serious music ? This synth studio isn’t cheap, but it’s chock full of “real” equipment to truly go wild with noise and beat creation.

StudioTrack

udioTrack is a full-on multitrack recorder with a price to match, complete with effects chains and in-depth mixing. It’s perfect for “sketching” out song ideas — with instruments you play on your iPhone, naturally.

Games

Rage HD ($1.99). It’s a tough match between Epic’s Infinity Blade and id’s Rage HD when it comes to best iOS graphics, but Rage HD is the clear winner when it comes to playability on the iPad. It’s an on-rails shooter, but has the frantic movement and shooting of a full-on FPSAcer as07b42 battery , and on the iPad’s large screen it’s easy to get immersed.

Solipskier ($0.99). Don’t play this game. It will consume you. Your family will never see you again, and you will dream only in ski-slope rainbows.

Zombie Infection HD ($0.99). This is a straight-up ripoff of Resident Evil, but Gameloft creates great ripoffs, and this game is no exception .

Flight Control HD ($4.99). Looking for something a bit more relaxing? Flight Control HD is the Pina Colada of iPad games, with a simple mechanic of drawing lines and landing planes. You can go head to head against a friend on your iPad, or play iPad vs. iPad over WiFi.

Real Racing HD ($9.99). Real Racing HD was one of our favorite games when the iPad was first launched, and it’s still great. There’s something about the fact that the iPad is about the size of a steering wheel that makes racing games just feel great on the iPad Acer as07b41 battery , and this one’s the king. However, Real Racing 2 just hit the iPhone, complete with licensed cars and better graphics, so if you’re patient you might wait for that version to show up on the iPad as well.

Scrabble ($0.99). If you’ve got an iPhone and all your friends do too, there’s only one thing left to do: play Scrabble. You get a “Tile Rack” app for each phone, and the actual Scrabble app for the iPad, and proceed to play the world’s most decadent game of Scrabble.

iPad cases and accessories

Dodocase ($59.95). There are two main categories of iPad cases, and the one you’ll choose depends on how you see the device: is it a reading tablet, or is it an everything else tablet? The Dodocase is the perfect example of the former, ensconching your iPad in a handcrafted Moleskine-style book .

Incase Convertible Magazine Jacket ($49.95). This case is more of the latter, taking cues from Apple’s own iPad case but adding extra flexibility. It’s perfect for propping the iPad up into a typing position, or protecting it from the elements. Just don’t expect to impress any of your fellow hipster coffee shop campers.

Apple Keyboard Dock ($69). If you’re using the iPad for writing, this dock is pretty much a must. It obviously only allows your iPad Acer batbl50l6 battery to stand vertically, but that makes the most sense for typing anyway. If you want a bit more flexibility, you can buy the iPad dock alone ($29), sans keyboard, and provide your own Bluetooth keyboard.

Pogo Stylus ($14.95). Don’t expect this to turn you into Rembrandt, but if you find yourself spending a lot of time in the iPad’s myriad quality drawing applications, it can’t hurt.

Camera Connection Kit ($29). The iPad can’t completely replace your computer (yet), but it can get pretty close with Apple’s Camera Connection Kit. The two adapters let you plug in your camera’s USB cable or SD card, respectively, allowing you to offload your pictures and upload them to Flickr or Facebook or wherever your heart takes you. New, unofficial kits are also emerging that combine both functions into one adapter.

Tips and tricks:

How to lock / unlock the screen rotation: In the beginning there was the orientation lock switch. And it was good. Now Apple has turned that switch into a mute switch and moved to a software lock. It’s not the worst hassle, but it can be a major pain if you don’t know where to find the software lock. Here’s what you do: double tap the home button. That should pull up Acer aspire 5520 battery a list of recently used application (this is for fast switching between apps). You can swipe left to see even older apps, or swipe right to get a little control panel. On the left is the orientation lock / unlock button you were looking for, and there’s also easy access to brightness and iPod controls.

Put Gmail on your iPad: Wait is there actually a Gmail app for the iPad? Yes and no. There’s no native application, sadly, but Google has built a beautiful web UI for using Gmail on the iPad, and we recommend putting a bookmark on your home screen pronto. To add Gmail (or any website) to your homescreen, simply go to your Gmail in Safari, then tap the button directly to the left of your address bar (it’s a box with an arrow coming out of it), then select the “Add to Home Screen” option. You’ll get an option to name the application (we stuck with “Gmail), and then you just tap the “add” button and Safari will place the shortcut in with the rest of your iPad apps Acer aspire 5920 battery .

Getting files on and off: Sadly, one of the hardest things to do with the iPad is to put files on it. Then, once they’re on, it’s just as difficult to get them off. There’s no file browser, like on a regular computer, and if you plug the iPad into your computer it doesn’t show up as a hard drive, it just shows up in iTunes. No solution is one-size-fits-all, but here are a few of the ways we deal with this major shortcoming.

  • Email: Yeah, you probably thought of this already, but it’s still one of the best ways to get stuff on the iPad. Just email an attached document to yourself, then open it up on the Mail app. You should get a nice thumbnail of the document, and then when you tap it, Mail will open its own preview of that document if it can. If you just wanted to view the file, that should be fine, but if you want to work on it, tap the button in the top right corner (the box with the arrow coming out of it) and you should get an option to open the Acer aspire 4720 battery file in the default application for that file type, along with an “open in…” button that lets you pick from any other applications you might have that will work with that file. After that it will be up to your application of choice how it deals with the file. If you get stuck you can always go back to the Mail app, where the original document will be waiting for you, untouched.

  • iTunes: It’s surprisingly easy to miss, but Apple actual built some minor file management features into iTunes. Once you plug your iPad into your computer and open iTunes, you get all sorts of tabs for managing your music and movies and everything else on your device. The “apps” tab allows you to arrange applications and remove them from your device, but if you scroll down you get a “file sharing” list of applications that can give and receive documents. You simply click on the application you’d like to share a file with, tap “add,” and upload a file from your computer. Similarly you can select files already on your iPad and save them to your computer from this interface.

  • GoodReader: There are other applications that sync files to the “cloud,” but GoodReader is our favorite. You simply set it up with your Google Docs, Dropbox, MobileMe or even email account, and you can download files straight to your device and view them from within GoodReader. GoodReader also has an “Open in…” functionality for viewing and editing your files in other applications. You can sort your files into folders, download files off of websites, and connect to local servers over WiFi if you’re really desperate for the digital good stuff.

  • Dropbox: If you’re a Dropbox user, this is by far the simplest solution , providing a simple view of your online files, a lightweight viewer, and an quick shortcut to opening files in other applications. If you’re not a Dropbox user, this won’t do you much good.

So, that’s it from us, but if you’ve got your own favorite apps, accessories, and trick for the iPad, please sound off in the comments below!

batterylaptoppower.com , New MacBook Air netbooks with 7 hours of Apple laptop battery life

A new MacBook Air laptop has been unveiled and Apple has hailed it as the first in a new generation of portable computers apple laptop battery.

This claim seems principally to be based on the new way in which the  Macbook will store and transfer its data, namely via solid state flash storage and various online services. The new storage systems are apparently 90 per cent smaller and lighter then traditional Apple hard drives, all of which mean the new Air is really quite impressively slender.

Apple describes its latest reinvention of the apple MacBook Hp pavilion dv3500 battery as having been “designed from the ground up to use flash storage exclusively” and the company makes clear that its recent research efforts in the realms of tablet PCs have helped inform development on the rest of its product range.

“We’ve taken what we have learned with the  ipad– solid state storage, instant-on, amazing battery standby time, miniaturisation and lightweight construction, to create the new MacBook Air,” explained Apple CEO Steve Jobs.
